Five Reiki Precepts

靈氣 (灵气)

The Five Precepts calls to the importance of living in the "now," or "today." How you choose to live every moment of today, determines how you'll live your life. Another important aspect of "today" in The 5 Precepts is that focusing your actions on that which you can do today is much easier and will inevitably take care of the "future" actions.

The Five Reiki Precepts, aka Principles or Ideals, are said to have originated with the Meiji Emperor, and have been adopted by Mikao Usui Sensei as guiding principles to follow during the course of the day. While there are many translations of Reiki Precepts available, the one included here resonates with me most. You can also find the original Japanese and its Romanized versions for your perusal. Also you may want to listen to the audio recording of the precepts in Japanese.

Five Reiki Precepts (aka Principles or Ideals)

Just for today:

Do not be angry,
Do not worry,
Be grateful,
Work with diligence,
Be kind to people.

Morning and evening, join your hands in prayer, keep in your heart, and recite with your mouth.

For improvement of mind and body.
